I got 10 pieces of this thin sheet metal from the construction going on in my work neighbors place for a catscan room. It is 15" x 8' thinking of using it to built a top on my roll cage for some shade ... comments :popc1:

Not a bad idea. Its actuly reqired in some racing groups for saftey. In baja I made some from 3/8 aluminum plate. We welded tabs to the cage and bolted the plates inside.
You could weld yours in, but I wouldnt. I like the option of being able to remove them.
Be sure to not have anywhere that a finger could get between the cage and plate, that would act like a razor. Paint them a light color, if there dark they will get very hot.

i made one a while back and it rattled so bad, i chunked it. hell, i had about $80 in the darn thing, custom rolled bead...sucks now-i threw it away.
