Post your former builds

Thought this would make a good thread...I'll start this with my past build and a few pics. 1971 Pontiac Ventura II. I bought the car with 68k original miles. Two sisters owned it originally, then when they past, they left it to their nephew...who sold it to me around '99. The interior was in great shape, I had the dash custom covered with a tach installed in the pad. Had a shop install a large sun roof with the original head liner. Had another shop install '94 mustang gt power seats(recovered in black vinyl & blue velour. Recovered the stock rear to match, and installed new black carpet. Had brite white, custom blue, and black paint job done by a guy here on Johns Is.

The motor was stock 6cyl/power glide. While I was getting the body done, I decided to build the motor up @ 71k miles. I had the head decked,3 angle valve job,V8 seals installed. Then made a call to Cliffford Performance...they made me a custom valve cover, I bought their 4bbl alum. intake,6 into 1 large header to go with the 2.5" exhaust and flow master. Painted the block pontiac blue.I still wish I bought the cool cam they had or the side mounted super charger:banghead:

We took it to shows and place great in a few of them, and was planning to take it on the hotrod power tour...but they moved it to the west coast right after my build:banghead:

on a side note, I was installing a hurst shifter that required replacing the old shifting shaft in the power glide. needless to say...when we fire the motor up for the 1st time after a complete rebuild, we burned the tranny right up---i think the valve body was stuck between 1st and reverse, so i had to buy a junkyard 350 turbo and completely rebuild it. then trade the pro-matic shifter in on one that was for a 3speed.

the strange thing is...when my girl (Emily) was born...I lost all interest in it:crying: didnt even care to drive it...so I traded it for a '89 K5 that started the whole rock crawling thing for my...but thats another "past build" lol:hysterical: I stopped counting the money invested after it crested 11k:drinkbud:
