hey guys, im about to order a fly wheel and clutch. I was told i'll probably need the fly wheel from a 91-92 F150 w/5.0 & 5 speed. thats the model i used for buying the mini gear drive starter i installed on the old 302. can i get someone to confirm this idea? also, what clutch should i ask for.... i guess a stock bronco clutch would be fine right? i just wanna be sure the clutch will bolt up to the fly wheel.
i still need to get the harness and computer for the motor and the fuel system stuff also.

when i had a 302 in my f150 i had the 164 teeth and it was the 50oz flywheel with a 11 inch clutch and the 435, i had the starter from that model truck tho, hope it helps

The flywheel should work. You cannot use an early model because of the 28oz imbalance. As for the clutch disc, it shouldn't matter as long as it has the same diameter and spline as the input on the NP. I do you know what size discs the flywheel accepts? I would stuff as big of one as possible, the larger the diameter, the more abuse it should handle. If I remember correctly the clutches can range from 10" to 11.5". The 11.5" may only fit aftermarket flywheels. That is standard size on big blocks. Most car apps were in the 10-10.5" range, but believe trucks(including EB's) were 11".

so would i buy a 92 flywheel and a 74 bronco clutch? or just get both from the 92 as long as the diam and spline count are the same from the 92 for the 74? i saw a listing for the 92 clutch as 11" and a 1-1/16th-10spline count which sounds right for the NP435

Yea, what aaron said. But the clutch dist for the 74 probably woundent fit. The splines would be diffrent. Use the one for a 92. I would also stay away from the kevlar clutches. There not ment to slip like an organic clutch.

i found a listing for the 92 clutch having a 1-1/16th dia and 10 spline count...isnt that the same as EB? i used the 3speed clutch for the NP435.i thought i might reuse it, however the throughout bearing is talkn S...so i should go with new stuff.

This is what I did with a 90' model motor with a stock flywheel and NP435 and as you well know Chuck I have beat on it prudy good. :biggthumpup:

jp, do you remember if yours was a roller motor? i think mine has the 50oz balancer...which is why i cant use stock flywheel.

I believe the 10 spline 1 1/16" shaft is correct. I also think this is the same input as the T5 in the ol' 5.0 Mustangs. As long as it is a truck application it should be around 11" diameter.
Chuck, was your engine have an automatic flex plate? If so, don't forget the pilot bearing in the end of the crankshaft.
