THE KAMAKAZEE
#1
After many months of what should of been a simple engine swap, my sons xterra will ride again.
I bought the kid this thing 2 years ago and he drove it without many issues for a year before killing the engine.I pulled the tags and made him save up for a new motor.Back in July we started the swapout and the games began. Thats when I mashed the end of my fingure off and had to stand and point on the removal. In the mean time my wife and I moved to Selma and really slowed the nissans progress down. I have always worked on '' american vehicles so on top of being a pain to work on, I only had a couple of teenagers helpin with the process. We found the motor was locked up and to get to the torque converter bolts, we had to remove the the front diff and steering to drop the oil pan and remove all the bearing caps to rotate the crank.
next the ''new'' motor was found to have issues and I had to order another and wait to get it from salvage yard. We then had to move everything to my house to continue with the work.
We got the motor in and runnin and I went to get tags on it again and found a title block due to a loan by the previous owner who was somewhere in Wilmington and had traded in Raleigh. That dealer as well as the private dealer I had bought it from, are now outta bussiness.
Yesterday with the help of BB&T, lien holder and numerous trips to NCDMV,we finally got the dealerships f***up straightened out and I have tags and clean title for the kamakazee.
I'm changing the tie rod and drag link that were damaged when removed, and gonna drive it around this weekend and HOPEFULLY gonna see those tail lights go down the road very soon.
Stupid hurts when it catches up, and it WILL catch up!
