arrowhead camping/ uwharrie forrest is with a couple miles of Troy,NC. the camp sites themselves are a mile or 2 from different trail heads. there is a eldarado outpost(gas station) a couple miles from arrowhead too...you should come! you can camp on trails(free with day pass) but its primitive. and can get dusty at camp with everyone passing all day. so best to reserve a site at arrowhead.

If I had to guess, I'd think you are about 2 hrs from there. We went through Pikeville on our way back from the beach this summer, but had to head up to Raleigh to pick up some parts before heading back here to Charlotte.
