Temperature sending unit

So my temperature sending unit has gone bad. I don't feel like removing my gigantic HEI distributor just to replace it. Anyone have theirs relocated to another port on their intake? I have an Edelbrock Performer intake. I also have a Autometer mechanical unit that doesn't work that great on one of the ports on the back of the intake.

The hotter ports are usually towards the front, but for your purposes, it shouldn't matter too much.
