2009 MEB Bronco Shootout
#51
Got back earlier today. Unfortunately we did not even hook up with the MEB crowd. We took Keith's green EB and our friend was in his toyota truck. Like bone collector said, very dusty - especially in a topless bronco. We took on everything there. It was our first time to Uhwarrie. We camped on the lake - very nice facilities. Keith bought a year pass so hopefully we'll be back.

I've got some pics, but our home computer is down and I'm on my work laptop. I'll upload pics tomorrow.

We are home safely, but we did blow 3 trailer tires on the trip - 2 there and 1 on the way home. The first one blew in Spartanburg so we stopped at Northern to pick up a second spare with intentions of returning it when we got home. The second one blew about 3 miles from camp. Ryan blew a tire on his toyota truck on the trails so he had to go to town to get a 31" tire so Keith went and picked up 2 more trailer tires. We mounted those on the rims back at camp and the third one blew on 485 in Charlotte at about 80 mph - not a good feeling.

We didn't fish any - but the water was perfect for swimming!

The new motor did ok - I'll let keith explain more. Howell likes the motor to run hot so it leans out. I think the heat caused an issue with the brake lines that run down and beside the headers since the brake calipers seemed sticky and did not want to compress when the motor was hot. We at least got to wheel friday afternoon and most of the day saturday.

Pics coming soon :popc1:

The brakes actually locked up and I was fighting the ceramic pads due to the heat I am guessing .I have never had brakes do anything like this so I am at a loss for a explanation.I drove 30 -40 mph on the FS road to get some more fuel and as soon as I let off the gas it stopped within 10 feet so they were binding up big time. The Howell heat issue is somenthing I can get them to fix as they can burn the computer for lots of things so I will see what their solution is.

Uwharrie isnt a challange either even with 33's but I am cheating a little with the 4.30 gears and the spool and trutrac but all that is coming out as I swap the axles from the buggy in there. They have regular detroits in them but less gear.It might be a different place if it was wet though. The Toyota didnt have much issues with the 31's but he had the crawler gears in the T-case ans a spool in the rear but was open in ft.

Will boiling/overheated brake fluid not cause the same condition?

Thats what I thought it was but I popped the cover off the MC and it was only lukewarm to the touch even in the bottom of it.I am going to flush the lines and run some DOT 5 fluid in it and wrap the hard lines and see if it stops this.
