Engine, trans, and t-case were assembled next on the ground and then carefully hoisted up.

I had already tacked the front hoop in place. Made it harder to get it all in, but we did it. Huge thanks to John for the help w/this. I couldn't have done it by myself. He is in a sling right now (had shoulder surgery), but was a HUGE help regardless!

Engine in! I had to use a jack, some wooden blocks, and wratchet strap on the tail end of the assembly to get it all in place..

Next, I cut some holes in the firewall for the wiring harness and the intake. Nick H came down on Sat and got a lot done on the harness install. Thanks again for all the help with that!! We had a few sensors that didn't have the same plug ends, so we had to do some switching. The IAB, TPS, and ACT sensors all had different plug ends. The ECT did as well, but I will get a new mustang one for that. The harness and computer are original Ford Mustang pieces out of a 90 HO. Nick went through it all and saved me a ton of time!!

I am using the Explorer intake with the ACT in the intake tube. Here is what it will be doing.

The 70mm MAF sensor is out of a Crown Vic (neither the stock mustang or the explorer MAF will work correctly). Part number on the MAF is F2VF-12B579-A2A. It is found on a host of donor vehicles.

While I was at it, I started on the new battery box location.

Location from the back (inside the cab).

Took a little while, but the battery box is now done. I used some thicker sheet metal and some scrap angle iron to fab it in.

And DONE!

Yesterday Clay worked on sheet metal for the floor pans while I started on the fuel cell mounting.

Also filled all the 'extra' holes in the firewall

You are a Mad Scientist!!!

ECORS Class A race rig build - SC74 - 03-08-2011

I recognize that battery location! Looks great... keep it up.

ECORS Class A race rig build - blazinchuck - 03-08-2011

you're gonna run tank straps over the tank right?

ECORS Class A race rig build - broncosbybart - 03-08-2011

Might be mad, but not sure about the scientist. I don't like experiments.. Don't have much patience. As one of my engineering prof's said years ago- don't try to reinvent the wheel.

Too funny. I didn't try to copy you on the battery location. (Read your thread a while back but that didn't sink in consciously). Maybe it was subconscious.... I did copy your radius arm design- I won't lie about that Big Grin

Straps will be going over the tank. Didn't get them done last night. Did finish them this morning. Came out pretty good.
