So how are your brakes? Brake lines? Ball Joints? Hoses? Engine tune? Battery? Battery cables? Shocks?
I would make sure that stuff is in good shape if this is going to be a driving project.
Have I spent your $400 yet?
Next up get your door posts fixed and other sheet metal issues delt with.
Bet your $400 is gone now and then some.
How about a shiny new coat of paint, inside and out plus your top.
Ouch ... add another 0 to that $400
Family cage ... interior work ...
Damn! Why do we like these things ?????

Now I'm depressed George ...:crying:

sounds like you kinda answered your own question. while replacing the door post (you can't drive it) while the interior is removed to save it from slag and grinding bits , it would be a good time to fix the floor. (think i've shot out the 400 at this point) then with the structure nice and solid as well as functional you move on to the cage. (time lapse here to gather funds)
as far as the shocks i'm clueless. I have not had the opportunity to change em on the bronco's yet. had a 84 and 87 in Cali and they both had that slow lope to em after a bump. replaced both sets with some cheapy napa replacements and they worked well. but ride quality was poor to start and i would say 7 out of 10 after. not sure what i would call a 10.
I guess i believe in structure first since it continues to deteriorate. (cliche alert) with a firm foundation better things can be built. but you may be able to get the ranchos for a similar price that i paid for the napa's (lived way up north in cali , napa had em in stock the other parts store did'nt) . that's one problem with living in the sticks. now i have access to all of em.
just my .02

The Bronco does need a good tune up. I am doing little things like putting new battery cables on it and other small stuff like that. I would like to get some of the cancer to slow down or get most of it out. Maybe I will sit on it and do some thinkingConfusedcratchhe:

I agree, do all you can while keeping it on the road. Once you tear it down, one thing will lead to another and 3 years later you'll still not be driving it. Please, don't ask me how I know such things.
