Project "Big Country" - Front Bumper Fab - SC74 - 08-15-2009 It really is starting to feel like it's coming together. We worked on the console some more and got the aluminum panels cut and shaped to the frame. Also cut the holes for the 4 gauges in the console, the tach in the dash, the switch panel and radio in the dash. Project "Big Country" - Front Bumper Fab - SC74 - 08-15-2009 Also finished the bumper and sprayed it with liner while we were shooting the tub. The shackle mounts the same piece of steel as the mount that bolts to the frame horns. We cut the bumper on the front and rear and slipped the mount brackets through, added some steel to them for thickness, and drilled them for a 3/4" shackle. That way they'll be pulling directly on the frame. Project "Big Country" - Front Bumper Fab - 744x4 - 08-16-2009 BTW the aged AL look is acomplished with some Pool acid and a paint brush and a Green 3-M Scotchbrite pad so quit asking. It started out as standard polished AL diamond Plate. We did that so the sun didn't blind you. Pretty cool trick Keith pulled out of his sleeve for that one mokin: Project "Big Country" - Front Bumper Fab - Barnes 4wd - 08-16-2009 There is no slaping that shifter from 1st to reverse Project "Big Country" - Front Bumper Fab - SC74 - 08-16-2009 Barnes 4wd Wrote:There is no slaping that shifter from 1st to reverse No, can't shift it from 1st to reverse real fast, but I can always smooth the corners on the gates to make it a little smoother. It's the same shifter we have in Jessica's blue bronco and I have really liked it so far. Project "Big Country" - Front Bumper Fab - SC74 - 08-21-2009 Here are a few pics of how we cut a stock steering shaft to lose all of the shifter mess. We are using the stock lower bearing and added the 3/4" heim to center the column. We still need to add a sleeve with set-screw to keep the shaft from sliding down. Project "Big Country" - Front Bumper Fab - 66stocker - 08-21-2009 Now thats some slick fabricating right there. I like the heim ... very clever. Project "Big Country" - Front Bumper Fab - JayT - 08-21-2009 Nice work! As 66stocker said, slick. The heim fit like a glove. The cage should go back in tomorrow, mount the seats and coilovers, and start some body work. Hopefully we'll have some good pics tomorrow evening. |
