Shawnboys 30 day Toyota Build! - shawnboymoody - 10-27-2009 Alright had dinner with the family tonight so I got started late. Didn't get that much done but every little bit helps I reckon. The front of the frame was rusted and was bugging me so I decided to cut it out. Gonna replace it with a 2.5 x 2.5 3/16 box tube. The front spring hanger attaches to this as well as the front bumper so I wanted it to be strong. Heres the old part. Got it all cut out and cleaned up ready to accept the new tube. Thats about it for tonight.leep: Shawnboys 30 day Toyota Build! - shawnboymoody - 10-28-2009 Update time. Picked up a new piece of tubing for the frame today. Cut it to fit and got it welded in. Also got the front spring hanger mocked up and welded in. It is pushed as far forward as possible for two reasons. First of all it stretches the wheel base a little bit but more importantly it helps keep the tire out of the body near the floorboards. The UPS man came today and brought some more parts from Sky Offoad Design. Bout damn time. These parts are for mounting the Chebby 63s. Last but not least these were given to me by JayT. Bronco brother showing the Yota some love.:notworthy: Shawnboys 30 day Toyota Build! - shawnboymoody - 10-28-2009 Heres a pic of my Advance Adapters dual case adapter. For those of you unfamiliar with all things Toyota it allows you to mate two Yota gear driven transfers cases together to achieve a 5.5:1 low range. I always say there's no such thing as too much gear.:bdent: Especially when you only have four cylinders. Shawnboys 30 day Toyota Build! - JayT - 10-29-2009 WooWoo!!! Can't wait to see this in action! *calling shotgun* My boys at Welch Racing always say "There's no replacement for displacement"... but damn.... 5.5:1 is prolly pretty close for the crawlin crowd! Yeah in double low with 5.29s the crawl ratio will be like 108:1. That oughta keep those four squirrels happy.:xyxthumbs: Shawnboys 30 day Toyota Build! - SC74 - 10-29-2009 If you don't mind me asking, how much $ do you have invested in all of the SAS brackets, steering, etc? I already had the spring hanger and frame tubes but that can be had for about 150. The steering is 300. Brake lines are 85 bucks. You need the Ubolt kits front and rear those are 50 a piece. So realistically you could do a SAS on a Yota for about 750 if you already have the axle. The more stuff you make yourself the more you can save. You can get the whole kit from Trail-Gear for about 1000. It come with EVERYTHING you need to do the job. http://www.trail-gear.com/sas.html Shawnboys 30 day Toyota Build! - shawnboymoody - 10-29-2009 Right now Ive got only about 1000 dollars in the whole rig but Ive had some SERIOUS help getting parts put together. Thank God for friends!:notworthy: Shawnboys 30 day Toyota Build! - bucketobolts - 10-29-2009 shawnboymoody Wrote:Lol. Yeah in double low with 5.29s the crawl ratio will be like 108:1.
