I had a similar start.... in 1978 I took the AM radio out of the my Dads Arcadian Blue '66 F100 and installed an AM/FM 8 Track with (2) 6x9s overhead. ZZ Top & Boston sounded great.. My Dad kept the truck for over 30yrs and he sold it with the same radio... not sure the 8 track worked though...

That is awesome. I am trying to remember if my parents ever had a 8 Track in their cars. I don't think they did I think they just had the radio and then we swapped in a tape deck for them. I was the first one in the family I believe to have an in car CD player. Shoot now they freaking have Satellite Tv for cars. Its kinda crazy.

Talk about telling your age. My first car was a 69 chevelle. I installed a AM/FM 8 track with a built in CB. My brother ended up trading it for a 69 Nova. Now, I install and sell a few stereos, and for the money Pioneer seems to hold up well. There are alot of good stuff out there but stay away from anything under $100. Because, there is a bunch of junk that will not last 6 months. (made in China)
