You've got some serious skill!

Thanks! My dad taught me well. I probably only know a tenth of what he had ever forgotten...

Working on a home-brewed ram assist using the 4x4x2 conversion box, the stock explorer ps pump, and a surplus center ram. If that works out, I'll be stoked! I'm hoping to elimate a lot of feedback that gets transmitted from the trail to the steering wheel.

When and where is the next race? Are you still planning on not running the full season next year?

ECORS Class A race rig build - broncosbybart - 10-31-2011

Nah, I don't think I'll be running the full season. We will see. Last race is this weekend! Got a lot of work left to do. It is at Windrock, TN.

I don't see travelling and all that next year. Too much time and money! I do plan to do all the local races for sure. Gotta put those Heeps in their place.

The ram works!! I know it the install isn't clean. Gonna work on that next. Just tested it 1/2 an hour ago.

My 'kit' is a homebuilt special. I had a Surplus Center 2.0" cylinder lying around. Ordered some hose and fittings from them and drilled and tapped my 4x4x2 box. I have several housings around (keep breaking sector shafts), so I didn't have much to lose if I did it wrong.

I didn't have enough room to attach the ram to the tie rod, so it is on the drag link. Probably not the ideal setup, but that is all I had to work with. I am running 33" tires, so the steering doesn't have a ton of load on it while trying to crawl. But while racing in the fast sections, the steering wheel wants to rip out of my hands. Between that and the cracked sector shafts, I figured this might help a bunch.

Drove it today! The 4.88's are much improved. The new to me (used) coil springs and Bilsteins are much better. Big thanks to Nick @ NicksTrix for that! The cutting brake is pretty cool too, not to mention the ram assist. It is a whole new ride!

Still waiting on a new cable for the OX locker. Should get that done on Thurs, as well as some other misc things.

charles, did you get the valving tuned up on those shocks for your application? how much gas psi did you charge them to?
watch those low hanging lines on your ram. might want to pull tehm up, even if you put them on a spring for your droop.

if you need a cable stat, carolina powertrain makes them there. statesviile ave, just off 85. 1 block north.

Yep, I tore the shocks apart and re-valved them. To quote the Bilstein guy, "I know just enough to be dangerous". Hence why I called them... We came up with a valve stack pack that should work for what was in there already. I didn't have enough time to check fluid level. The fronts appeared low.

I am running 250 psi in the front and 230 in the rear. I don't have any nitrogen at the house, but I do have a bicycle shock pump. So, it has air in it- I didn't tell the Bilstein guy that. Big Grin He said to run about 300 in the front, but I am worried about the air pressure rising with heat. I guess Nitrogen does better at handling heat. Tried to get a local shop to fill them, but they said they wouldn't be able to do it before I had to leave????

I will address the ram lines tonight. Didn't have everything tidy. I'll keep the cable supplier in mind for sure.

say a prayer for us! that is all i can say. got it all checked over and ran it for a little while in the field next door. after running it about 10 minutes it died and didn't start again. it died after idling it down to a stop and it wouldn't restart for about 10 minutes.

No idea of what is wrong and don't have time to check it out. i know it had fuel- checked pressure at the rail. that is all i know.. gotta leave tomorrow morning. Hopefully it will shake itself out on the trail. We all know how well that theory works out....

Prayers going out! Good luck pal. Did you button up the OX today?
