ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - broncomatt - 10-09-2011 Its been an off week, had a showing for the house and sold the ranger and hopefully the crew cab. So now my 71 is taged and I had to tear out the mini spool and rebuild it with the detroit to make it streetable. But that doesnt mean I didnt get anything done on the 69, I rebuilt the bad bearing on the rear axle, swapped out the bad yoke. Plus rear shoes, wheel cyl, ebrake cables and flex hose. The front end was very bad, both hubs needing some bearings, seals, ujoints, wheel cyl, flex hoses. All the flex hoses are now braided ss. I also found a side mirror I like and may even put one on my 71. ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - blazinchuck - 10-09-2011 cool mirror...where did ya get'em??!! ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - broncomatt - 10-20-2011 Those came from Orielys. There clamp on mirrors, but I checked them and saw there were casting spots to put screws. I drilled out the holes and mounted them. I'm realy liking them, I got one for the pass side too. Its been a busy few weeks, dropped our first load of stuff off in FLA. That included a trip down in the rv with my flat bed trailer in tow. No major events but lets just say it was exciting. This week has been spent putting most of the electrical stuff back in, I am happy to say that other than the horn everything is working. I have ordered a new turn signal switch so the horn should be up and blowing soon. I will have it in primer tomorrow. I did find a brake line that sprung a leak after installing all those braided lines. The pinon seal on the dana 30 started pouring after putting oil in it ( it was coping the dana 20 that had done the same thing), so a new seal is on its way. After putting all the lights back in I am truly running out of spare parts, but I hit the salvage yard and got a spare tire for the rack. I started it after new plugs, oil, coolent, heater hoses, new carb, air filter(dropped the ps bracket down) and it runs good. Some minor things to fix tommorow after I put it in primer. ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - broncomatt - 10-21-2011 Ok, so now its gray! The body work isnt totaly done but it was good enough to put it in primer. Got it running last night, carb still needs some tuning, but the new plugs did help. The engine pic is how its set up to run, the air filter turned is so it will clear the hood. The only thing left is too put the soft top on and take it for a road test. The shifter bushings I installed have made a huge diffrence on how it shifts. I havent driven it yet but I think once the turn signal switch is in it should be fun! I want to thank Chuck and Broncosbybart (charles) for there help with the missing parts to this project. I wouldent be able to finish it with out there help. I will be sure to post a final assembly pic. ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - medwards01 - 10-22-2011 Matt, lookin good....what about those seats and the driver's view out the windshield? Do you know what vehicle they came out of? Their looks are kinda growing on me....:xyxthumbs: ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - broncosbybart - 10-22-2011 looking good! ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - chuzie - 10-22-2011 Totally different vehicle! I can't believe how far it has come in such a short time. I remember telling Chuck you were CRAZY for taking it. Now I can see that you have the ability to look past the superficial and plan for greatness. Very impressive. ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - broncomatt - 10-23-2011 It lives! Like frankenstin built out of every spare part I had it is back together and it drives! I need to align it, ballence the tires, probably install a steering stablizer, fuel guage still doesnt work and change the front crank seal (which started pouring after being driven). Things I noticed while driving it, the 6cyl isnt very powerefull, the spare tire rack rattles like crazy, the windshield is worn out and should be replaced. Overall it should be a good daily driver, once I put some time into working out the kinks. The seats are nice, they were cheap ($50 a pair) but even though I dropped them several inches I still may drop the drivers another inch. They were easy to adapt for an eb except they dont tilt forward for rear axcess. Opps. ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - blazinchuck - 10-23-2011 hells yeah HOT DAYUM!!!! looking awesome dude!! hey now...that 6cy has potential lol...my old chevy 250 put out 170hp/300tq at the tires hehehe- roasted the tires |
