Shawnboys 30 day Toyota Build! - shawnboymoody - 11-14-2009 I wish I could.:crying: Shawnboys 30 day Toyota Build! - shawnboymoody - 11-15-2009 Well got the front axle built today. Got the steering in. Even threw some roller wheels on it to see how it sits. I like how far forward the wheel is gonna be. Gonna have a nice approach angle (for a leaf sprung rig). In this pic you can see why I'm gonna have to push the steering box forward. The only bad part is Im probably gonna have to pull the axles shafts back out and do what is called a "martack" on the splines of the inner shaft. It keeps the shaft from walking around in the housing. Ill do this later.:banghead: Shawnboys 30 day Toyota Build! - SC74 - 11-15-2009 How do you plan on moving the steering box - just re-bolting to the frame and lengthening the steering linkage? Can you modify the pitman arm, or would that throw the geometry off (less radius = less turn) Shawnboys 30 day Toyota Build! - shawnboymoody - 11-15-2009 SC74 Wrote:How do you plan on moving the steering box - just re-bolting to the frame and lengthening the steering linkage? All you do is move the steering box forward towards the core support. They sell a kit to do it or make your own. Basically drill the new bolt holes in frame and sleave them with tube like the original setup. Steering geometry is unaffected and the steering linkage stays the same. Need this.
