been messing with the fan today. everytime i fire up the bronco or hit the gas at all...sounds like the belt is slipping. turns out the BCBronco fix fan is putting some drag on the water pump pulley. so anytime the engine changes rpm fast...belt squeal. tried to use a clutch fan from a mustang, but wont fit with any clearance. so i installed the chitty flex fan from the original 306 motor. the noise is gone, but this fan wont perform as good as the fix fan. already i can tell my elec helper fan is running more and longer cause the flex cant keep up.

removed the old super single and made a true dual exhaust(thanks for the help chuzie)
sounds better, but i think these flowmasters are lil quieter than chuzies. was hoping to match chuzies sound.still might install a H pipe...just aggravated over the fan issues.

what about the belt? that kind of fan shouldent cause that. Is the belt sitting low in groove(if your using a v belt) or is it glazed and cracked(serp). How tight is the belt? If your using the auto tensiner I would replace that. Nissans even had a recall because they would chirp on start up. Never had a fixed cause that, usualy it was the belt.

I have a set of the 40 series flowmasters on mine. They are really loud. Sound just like 5.0 mustangs. I am thinking about putting something a little bit more quiet on mine though.

Matt,

The belt is new, the tensioner is new, and everything is aligned and seated on the serp belt. That sound stumped me for the longest time. I never would have traced it to the fan either but Chuck thinks outside the box sometimes. Good on ya!

Dixieboy,

I think maybe you and Chuck should trade flowmasters.

aight guys, just went and bought a new longer belt. couldnt find a 84.5" like suggested...so i tried a 84.9" and it worked and didnt have to re-clock the tensioner.

now i have almost 2/3 wrap on the water pump pulley. i reinstalled the BC fixed fan and YIPPIE!!!!! no squeal on start up or rev'n the motor!!

this is great, as the flex fan wasnt doing half the cooling as the fix fan. so now im cooling and no squealing!!!

thanks for the input guys,Chuck

maybe a deal with a guy in Arizona, we are swapping trannys. he's getting my C4 and everything to install it, im getting his nv3550 5sp w/everything. Cant wait...always wanted a 5sp!!

got to check out the flex with the cage coils and lower stance. works really well!!! stock shocks are limiting my rear for now.
