ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - firefighter2134 - 11-28-2011 i have a set of 3.50s if you want them. ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - blazinchuck - 11-28-2011 matt would need D30/9" gears...i thought you were d44 Asiel ? ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - broncosbybart - 11-28-2011 I think he is running a 30 up front still. No idea on how feasible it is, but what about an inline 300? Had one in an 86 F-150. It got better than that for mileage. Not the most powerful thing in the world, but it should move an EB right along. Of course, you are probably going to be comparable to a 302 at that point. The thing that hurts the EB is aerodynamics, or lack thereof. I worked at a machine shop years back and we had one or two high performance 6 cyl's in there. Had to do A LOT of head work to them. These were race only engines though. No idea how parts sourcing is for an inline 6 is nowadays. Probably getting tough. ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - bucketobolts - 11-28-2011 I think the 300ci is a much bigger block than the 200ci. But I remember seeing an EB with a fuel injected 300 on Pirate or OffroadFab.net. ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - blazinchuck - 11-28-2011 lol....money, money, money is the key here guys. he's running a 170 now, the truck came with a completely disassembled 200 in the bed. so he's open for ideas with what he's running for now. i think a 300 is way to big! i know its been done.....but so has a 6BT Cummins!! lol ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - firefighter2134 - 11-29-2011 i only have the rear 3.50s they came out of the 79 that i had. ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - broncomatt - 11-29-2011 The lack of funds is the big problem, I do plan to put a larger exhast system to open it up some. I do actly have the a/f sensor and guage that is currently on the rv so I will probably rob that and put it into the roadster to help in tuning. I'm just not a fan of the carb that comes on the 200 and if I can fuigure out what carb was on this I may rebuild it. I think the 200 is dumping too much fuel. I did get on the fordsix site and thats where I heard about the adapter to put a 2bbl carb on a 1bbl intake. I was even wondering if there was an offy intake out there, for the 170 or 200? The 300 would take too much to fit it into this ride, plus I do already have the 200 that needs to be rebuilt. I will do that at some point. The tires also seem a waste since this will not see offroad, thats what I have Pe'pe for. The trans swap is out due to the large cost of getting one. The gears solution is best since this is realy only going to be on the street. It realy tachs out driving around the highways so I think its a must. Asiel, I could realy use those gears. I would like to switch the rear for now, and when I have more money and time I can do the front(the front already needs axle seals). Any chance we could pass these gears around untill they get to Chusie? I know he'll end up comming by some time. I realy apreciate the help. I'm working now, but liz is still looking. Thats making it harder to resolve these issues since all of them could be solved with money. The spare tire rack is ratteling due to the lack of bushings. There are plastic bushings that go on the pivot pins. This one had none so I had to put it on the way it was. I am realy enjoying the truck, just need to bring it up to where I can realy drive it every day. blazinchuck Wrote:dang matt, sorry to hear bout the issues. i know getting some HP out of a 6cyl will always cost money. making them flow better and oil better(ie. heads, crank, valves, etc) will cost time and money. you can always make the exhaust better yourself, but that will cost whatever the parts are(ie. prebent parts, muffler, header) i used to have a 1bbl to 2bbl adapter...but im sure it wont work as it was for my chevy 250 6cyl i once had years ago. maybe you can get a wide band O2 sensor installed so you can read rich/lean and tune the carb better. ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - blazinchuck - 11-29-2011 i guess you'll have to reuse your carrier Matt, since the 79 is 31spline. is the 170 intake set up for a 1bbl and you now have an adapter/2bbl on it? or are you running the 200ci big 1bbl on it? ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - JayT - 11-29-2011 Looking at Summit, it looks like the only offy intake is a triple... not a single 2bbl... ClassicInlines has a bunch of adapters for 2bbl->1bbl... I wish I had some parts laying around... Or even some that I could take off the EB for ya... Good luck! ok, this is the last truck I will ever buy. Really. - broncomatt - 11-29-2011 Yea, I was realy only looking for the ring and pinion. I dont mind setting it up. Its a stock 170 intake, I ovaled the holes to fit the 200 1bbl onto it. It sealed and worked. The carb that was on it was full of rust and when I ordered the rebuild kit it didnt match that carb (not from an eb), since I didnt know where it came from I got this of ebay. Figured it would work for either engine. As for the adapter, I just like the 2bbl carb and have many parts and gaskets for them. Classicinlines huh, thanks jayt. I had not heard of them. Over the years I done tons with v8's, this is the first 6cyl build that is going above stock. blazinchuck Wrote:i guess you'll have to reuse your carrier Matt, since the 79 is 31spline. is the 170 intake set up for a 1bbl and you now have an adapter/2bbl on it? or are you running the 200ci big 1bbl on it? |
