1976 F100 Dana 44 Question - 2000F150SAS - 01-07-2009 I just picked up a 1976 F100 Dana 44 front rear and it has drum brakes, how hard is it to swap to disk brakes? Cost for this +/-? Thanks, John 1976 F100 Dana 44 Question - bucketobolts - 01-07-2009 You can do the popular "Chevy" conversion really cheap. http://classicbroncos.com/disc.shtml Or you can swap the knuckles out from a '77-79 Ford D44. You will probably also want to upgrade to the F250 "camper special" master cylinder. It makes you work a little less when running big tires. 1976 F100 Dana 44 Question - 2000F150SAS - 01-07-2009 This rear will be going into a 2000 F150. So i have to swap the whole knuckle to run disc brakes (just the knuckle)? I guess the caliber bracket is on the knuckle? Thanks, John 1976 F100 Dana 44 Question - bucketobolts - 01-07-2009 If you use the '77-79 Ford knuckles, I believe the brackets are cast on the knuckle. Then you need the spindle that the rotor/hub rides on and holds the axle in. And of coarse the rotor/hub, caliper, and hoses. 1976 F100 Dana 44 Question - DeTowman - 01-07-2009 u should have bought mine it already had disc brakes!1upergrin::rebel: |
