Brad Howells 66 Build - Brad H - 07-18-2010

Bought this 66 about two years ago as a resto project and an excuse to spend more time in the garage. Started to do some minor work on her and found out was going to be losing my job so all work stopped since last summer. Will be starting a new job in a few weeks so getting back into it.

First thing I did was remove about 3 inches of puddy on top of the upper cowl panel. Perviously owner said it was leaking a little under the dash on rainy days so he laid on the puddy. Found out there wasnt much metal left under the puddy (should have known). The bottem of the windshied mount panel had rotten away. In addition, the cluch pedal assembly where it bolts into the windshield mount panel had completety broken free. My cheap solution was to weld in a piece of angle iron which seemed to have worked.

Also put some gauges in the dash and repainted it.

Next going to weld in the RH upper cowl panel and a patch for the LH.

Also need to have the 3 speed rebuilt, seems to have eaten itself while sitting this last year. Anybody recommend any good shops in Raleigh for this?

Nothing good ever develops from beneath putty but you seem to have found a cost effective solution to the problem.

Just about finished with the patch panels. Taking longer than expected. Not pretty but learning how to weld as I go.

Cut out old pass side floor pan. Sandblasted cross members and painted with por 15. Replace body mount under pan with new polyurethene from wild horses. Sprayed weld through primer on seams. Ready to be plug welded this week.
