C-4 tranny rebuild - NC-Fordguy - 12-04-2007 Was wondering which kit you all have used. Last rebuild lasted two years maybee 15k miles. I'm hoping this time around I have better luck Been looking at summit and jegs C-4 tranny rebuild - bucketobolts - 12-05-2007 I prefer to buy all my parts myself. The kits are a little overpriced. Are you looking to build it yourself or take it to someone? C-4 tranny rebuild - NC-Fordguy - 12-05-2007 I'll rebuild it myself Shops around here are quoting 5 bills or so and offer a 90 day warranty I can get it to last longer than that C-4 tranny rebuild - bucketobolts - 12-06-2007 I usually buy all my parts from a local transmission supply in Kannapolis. I get the overhaul kit with all the metal clad seals, gaskets, and O-rings. Then I buy my bands, clutches and steels individually, filter and modulator for each application. A sprag is also cheap insurance. I like to use 5 forward and 5 direct Alto Red clutches with Kolene steels. I also prefer to use a Kevlar intermediate band. When I build the valve body I add a "shift kit" to make quick firm shifts. The pump needs a simple modification to help with oil flow to the cooler. The case needs the return passage enlarged and the #9 bushing need to be drilled for better oiling. I like tinkering with C4s. I have a C6 with a 203/205 that I need to build to go in my rig. My C4 has served me very reliably and makes me hesitant about swapping it out. C-4 tranny rebuild - broncomania - 12-07-2007 my c4 works great. it has all performance automatic internals and bucketobolts did a killer job on the assembly. thanks again. |
