NOV RUN @ URE
#61
A couple of friends and I have been talking about going back. We went this summer when it was nothing but a dust bowl for our first trip and had a blast. Since then I've swapped in a newer engine, replaced the clutch, flywheel, master and slave cylinders. I'm kinda anxious to see how she performs now. She is my 89. The 88 I just bought and haven't done anything with yet.

The 89 is stock except for running a set of 33's. She's no match for most of the rigs I see on here. If we do go I won't be able to camp. Just don't have enough hours in the day these days.

I'll let ya'll know for sure by this weekend.

we need to come up with an area to meet on Sat morning.(either the dutch john rd-big parking area or Outpost)

I'm thinking 8:30am, everyone riding should be packed , aired down, and ready to go by 9am.

we have 2 choices for the dinner...down the road near the gun range or at the double site of NC-fordguy across from restrooms(campground)

please let me know,Chuck

Still thinking about coming but after watching the videos of these beasts ya'll drive I'll probably be a spectator only. I sure don't want to slow anybody down and I hate like the devil to get embarrassed. lol

Mine will never be a dedicated crawler cause she is also a part time DD, helps me keep miles down on the SuperDuty.

Not to mention I still don't have any of the safety and recovery equipment I should have. All the money so far has gone into swapping in a new engine, clutch, flywheel, master and slave cylinders, and a set of 33's. Oh, and adding a radio and speakers.

Is there a sign up sheet for vittles to bring?

I'm right there with ya trkbilder, getting old ain't for sissies is it?

check the dinner thread for URE...should be able to see who's bringing what,Chuck

ps:Should a great time...even with a stocker. There are plenty of easy trails. there will be a couple of different groups leading. some will go easy, some will take the harder trails.

You all are welcome to have the cookout at my site (29)

As it stands now only a buddy and me will be there so there will be plenty of room.

A couple of things I'm thinking....

If anyone has a rig that doesn't have a liscense plate, we'd be better off to meet at the trailhead or campground. The cops will catch you if you're on the blacktop(ie meeting at el dorado outpost)

Make sure you all have your trail passes BEFORE we head out to the trail. The rangers on occasion will be on the trail checking. I have a season pass as I've been to unf 7 times this year, but this time of year they may be sold out and daily passes will be the only option

If we have more than 9 or 10 rigs we'd be better off breaking up in two seperate groups to avoid the long waits. Remember other folks will be wheeling to.

Trucks with 31 in tires can do all of the trails at UNF. There are bypasses at kodak, a easy way up daniel and an easyier trail up dickey bell at the hill climb. The only issue I've seen at unf is the last ledge before you get to kodak on stock vehicles will sometimes hi center, but a little tug will solve this. The best way to handle this obstacle is to hug the wall on the right as tight as you can, then as you clear start a cut to the left.

Remember this is a national forrest so no booze on the trails and do carry at least a fire extiquisher a tow strap and a spare tire or a way to fix a flat.
