DIY rock lights
#1
Ok guys, This is from Pirate 4x4. I saw and instantly bought a set. I think Hick bought a set also. However, Ive been lazy and havent installed them as rock light yet. I did install 2 for interior lights under the dash...and i love'em. super bright! they also have the same set in other colors too!!

Cheap Rock Lights

im also planning to get more of these, once you have them...you'll find more uses for them. Im planning to also convert all roof mounted lights in our RV to these.

**word of caution** the shipping is free....BUT IT TAKES ONE MONTH FROM CHINA!

I bought some of the first ones too... I havent gotten to install mine either, but did hook them up in the shop...

I have also thought about running these down the center of my trailer deck to aid in repairs/etc at night

Here is a pic of them in the shop

I also got some rare earth magnets too while there:

you can glue these to the back of the lights, and then just stick them on the chassis. Dont have to worry about bolt/screwing/3M tape

You will want to use rare earth magnets as they are much stronger then std magnets

thanks for the RE magnet link

have you tried one to see if its strong enough to hold the fixture?

I have not tried it yet, but they are extremely difficult to pull off each other and metal when you stick just the magnet.

I believe they sell bigger magnets though

The rare earth magnets I have seen require a lever on them to break them loose. We use them on equipment-mounted laser accessories and they can hold a heavy receiver on a piece of equipment while it operates.

The lights look great!

They kind of look like this when mounted.

I mounted mine with magnets and left just a little slack in the wires to move them around a bit.
