2013 events??
#11
My opinion, just so ya know and you asked.....I've made the M&G at Carpenters 3 times, for a total of 5 trips to Carpenters.....Still love it! As do my herd. Wheeling after at URE a must! November run at URE, same time, will be there. Of couse I'm way up here in VA. The Outer Banks is right up the street and I have spent a large number of my younger years there. In the summer now, can't hardly find a spot on the Beach, if you can even drive on it, plus a fee now of like $50. Best time to go is September (best) to May. We as in MEB and Tidewater Bronco's did a pretty successful Sept. trip to Frisco a couple of years ago and camped at Frisco Woods that also has Cabins avaible. Still warm enough to swim, fishing was good. Boiled shrimp and grilled steak and cabobs. Bonfire. Spent about 13 hrs straight on the Beach. Add in a ferry ride from Cedar Island for you folks coming up from the South.

Not pushing the issue cuz its right in my back yard campared to many of you, but food for thougt for the Outer Banks, might just plan on getting a Sept '13 trip together on Hatteras Island and most likely Frisco, if the Turtles, Birds, and Hurricains haven't shut it down!!

I would love for a small group of us to do a week long ultimate adventure style wheeling trip. Hit a handfull of parks and have it all conclude @ URE!.

Biff, I'm more at home in the Saltwater and sand dunes. Now have access to a car hauler from a racing buddy down the street. Keep me posted I make the trek, gotta ship my son off the Fort Sill in July, so unless thats when he finishes basics, I like to know more about cabin rental. Wife dont like tents.

Just a thought, but the spring jamboree will be the weekend of March 30 across from the Outpost at Uwharrie. There will be several clubs there if we want to have our meet and greet there. Should be a cluster of a weekend, just like last year.

From NC4x4:

Yes! This is going to be a regular event!

The Uwharrie National Forest District Ranger has decided to open the trails March 29, 2013 after the Winter shutdown. That is a Friday! Start planning and preparing your Rig now and be ready for 'Opening Day' 2013 at Uwharrie! The Jamboree will be held Saturday March 30!

Clubs, Dealers, Parts Manufacturers, Swap Meet, UORTC 4x4 Games, Helicopter rides, Off-Road Test Track and MORE!

Coming back again: Helicopter Rides, CLUBS!, Kevin Powell MotorSports!, 4WD Parts dealers and of course our ATV/UTV Kevin Powell Off-Road Test Track

Free Admission (as usual), New for the Spring: FREE Swap Meet (25' x 25' space) and Free RTI Ramp Travel.

Looking at adding: UORTC 4x4 Games, Monster Truck rides and a separate 4WD Off Road Test Track for full-size dealers and builders, ATV/UTV parts dealers and more.

Not to mention that if we had it there, Robert might actually wheel at URE Big Grin

That sounds like a great time but, as was proven a few weeks ago, cannot handle the large volume of vehicles associated with a NC4X4 event especially when coupled with other clubs.

I am pretty sure this would turn into another traffic nightmare on the trails.

Good suggestion though.

I guess you weren't there in the spring? We sat at the bottom of Dutch John for like 2 hours, and this was about 9pm!! It gets rather insane...

Not sure what else to suggest about a venue for the M&G. The big one up in Pigeon Forge has nothing to offer apart from itself, IMHO. They take trips around the roads, but that is about it. Time goes by pretty slowly there, too. I find myself talking with other people- after a while all the Broncos start to look the same, as sad as that sounds. Guess what I'm saying is that I think the gathering will be what it is, regardless of where it is, unless something else (another form of activity- games, go carting, eating, etc) is incorporated into it. That said, I'm fine with Carpenters or a new location, but I don't expect a new location to give a different feel to the event. I like getting together and hanging out, whenever/wherever.
