the 77's upgrades
I hope you didn't cheap out on the clutches. I know how much abuse that rear end goes through!

well, finally got a chance to inspect the front diff. last novrun i tried to engage the d44 Elec-Trac diff...it didnt work...so i took a bypass at Kodak rock. keep thinking it might be the elec servo(that actuates the locker) , but thats not the issue. it seems that elec trac had these issues since day one. it also had the posi feature similar to a tru trac...and it does try to work when applying power through the drive shaft only. i can spin shaft (tires turn same direction) and apply my foot to hold the dr tire and it will stop, but it take some force to stop it. i feel this is nothing considering im turning by hand.

tried calling eaton today...but no luck! this doesnt seem to be the locker for me...found this bit of info too http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/jeep-hard...-help.html

not sure which direction to go now

personaly I would go detroit in the back and a power lock posi in the front. Or detroit in the back (31 spline of course) and an ARB in the front.
just my 2c.

My two cents.... I don't trust anything that requires a switch especially in a crucial system. either the switch, the relay, or the mechanism will go bad at the worst time. something that is self contained and not reliant on ANTHING external is my preference.

if it were me, i would go with a detroit or grizzly in the rear and a posi or lock rite in the front to allow for better steering. granted, it will not be as good as a selectable in terms of steering but at least it will be there when you need it.

i would rather have slightly less steering with the occasional pain in the ass turn than not have the traction when i need it. let's face it, when do you absolutely need to turn on a dime and not have the option of a turn backwards? i have run a lock rite in the front for a while and it is a great compromise between steering, traction, and reliability.
