Confusedcratchhe: I've always been a small block man! I like the short stroke and tighter revs of the small blocks. Power to weight ratios are another reason I like'em! :xyxthumbs:

Yes they do & it's just an opinion.. as I remember from Ford tech school the reason for the M series was the Cleveland had an oiling problem after about 50,000 miles if the owner did not change the oil regularly or changed different brands all the time the oil returns in the heads would sludge shut...Thus holding the oil in the topend....Ford knew of this problem & redesign it and they changed the name to the Modofied series....

What I mean't by this thread is the 351/400 considered a big block or small block? as for me I like the big block 460 can't beat the torque

Actually Ford has never designated engines as small or big blocks like the General and Mopar. They have always been either Y's, FE's, 335's, 385's, or Windsors.

As for the 351M/400, they are a hodge podge of both as previously noted. They have a 4" bore similar to the Windors, but have the same lengths 6.58" rods of the 429/460's or 385's. The canted valve heads will bolt on a Windsor block, but the 335 block shares the 10.300" deck of the 385. The 335's are the only blocks to have been cast with 2 bolt pattern bell housings, the Windsor and 385 trannys.

So I guess you can call them small big blocks, or big small blocksConfusedcratchhe:.

Wow, good timing for this thread so I can figure out what I have now. I've been told what Aaron said - "small big blocks, or big small blocks"
