If not, grind and paint then go to marti and have a door jamb vin plate printed to match glove box vin. I would think that should be sufficient to give the inspector a warm fuzzy.
There are lettered punch sets out there. Ford has the original tooling but I don't think DMVs know the difference. I had a 1/4" set that I punched for the rear of my frame. If you go this direction practice on spare metal bc double stamps of the same letter or number looks bad. Remember, modifying a frames vin is illegal as I was told by my DMV. I could have grinded off the vin on the 72 frame and stamped it myself but I just went ahead and searched out a title and matching frame.
