Driving from Northern California to Atlanta , Ga.
#13
Well I was 2300 miles or so into my 2644 mile trip home when I lost overdrive. The last 300 miles were really loud and fuel consuming. I figured the tranny was shot so I was going to burn it up or make it home. Got the trailer home and had a buddy check the tranny for me. OD band is gone and lots of shiny metal in the pan. So rebuild and a new torque converter in the works. I have over 135k on my old Ford and this is the first hiccup. Cannot complain really , I guess the ole girl deserves 2500 bucks. I have kept all fluids changed regularly , but I admit I am a little tuff on it with or without a trailer.
Got a lot of work to do in the basement to get ready for the new chassis. Just never enough time....
I think my rust is rusting...
I can't remember which mistake comes next...
