I've been considering the same thing in my Bronco (single 12" sub, 300-400W amp) and I can get about everything (sub, amp, box, wiring) for about $350-400.
Thats awesome. I used to run a Boston Pro 10" with an RF Punch 40 down to 2ohms and it harder than one my friends dual 12"s made him sick. Of course I paid as much for the 1 10" as he did for his 12"s and his box. I used to run JL Audio stuff too. 4 12"s that's sick. One of the guys I hung out with owened his own sound shop and he had an Astro Van with 32 12"s and I think 10,000Watts. That was sick and painful.
I may find a good quality 10" and stick it back there. I don't even know who makes good stuff anymore. I assume JL still does I know they make one heck of a awesom home Sub.
