The dealership is slow, only able to flag 25-30 hours a week. Has been that way since the end of spring. Not much chance of being fired since I'm the only GTR/master tech. But you can starve to death even with job. I'm just thankfull liz has a steady job too.

I'm in the grading business and it's SLOW. I'm doing the estimating so have some job security, but I have taken a pay cut to help weather the storm too. 90% of our field employees have been laid off. Work is going so cheap (less than cost) it's hard to get any work without taking a hit - it's just who's going to take a harder hit now.

The Air Force treats me well and hope it will stay that way with the new administration. I have been on the lookout for a civilian job in case my order are cut short but there is nothing out there right now and that scares the crap out of me.

-Matt that training you got is worth gold. They would never touch you with that. Good move.

In the same boat but as my retirement gets closer I worry a little, heck I haven't looked for a job in almost 20 years where the heck do I start :banghead:

Right now I'm still in limbo. Management has not made a final say on who exactly stays and who is laid off. If you look at plant seniority, when I was hired into the company, I'm gone. But since I work in skilled trades and the trade has a separate seniority, I may get to stay.

But I'm looking at it like this. Everything happens for a reason. Maybe it is time for a career change. I turn 35 this year and have been at this company for 13 yrs and been in mechanic/maintenance work since I was in high school. I'm really giving thoughts to going back to school for something in the health/medical field. Also gave thoughts to maybe law enforcement, but there is no money there.

No money in law enforcement here. CO state troopers start at $42,000/yr. Deputy sherrif in the county I graduated high school from start at $28/hr. Have to take into account that they don't give you a gun for no reason. I'm thinking of going home and I still have a job. I miss seasons.
