24 Lemons Race
#21
blazinchuck Wrote:Carl, I'm thinking I may need to remove my name from the hat. I'm paying house taxes today! and a bronco that needs to be finished, not sure I can afford to play with that kind of money at this time.

Chuck - At least come and help cheer. I haven't heard from Carl as to whether or not they will need help in the pits but that could be a cheaper alternative :rebel:

Ok,
I am trying to fine tune things and answer some questions. It seems we have a third driver back in. Dave Marsic has said his company will pay the entry for the car. $500.00
Marshall (jeep dude) most of you know is thinking about getting in but is on the fence as well.
You will definitely need a helmet (to there specs) I ordered a G-Force helmet on ebay for $106.00. Nice light helmet.
You will need your own fire shoes and gloves

This may be a little weird but I am willing to buy a fire suit and share it. Share the suit not the cost. I need a suit for mud racing this summer anyway. I want a 2 piece so I can take the coat off when in the pits. The suites need to be a dual layer nomex and I think I can get one for $150.00. The jacket and the pants are sold separately so if you wanted to get your own pants and share a jacket that would work. I do not mind sharing the whole suit---I will have pants or shorts underneath-- not naked.
There is a hot rod / racing expo at the fair grounds here this weekend so I should be able to get a deal on some safety stuff.

We have all the tires and wheels we need already so there is no cost there. If we run out so be it. This is budget racing.

Fuel should not be a big deal for this 4 cylinder

Yes it is a 5 speed.
I think we will change the timing chain and the water pump. No cost to drivers

I think we need everyone willing to come and help. It should be a blast and another way for our bronco bros to share special time.

Motor home would be so nice but if it is too much to bring don't do it. I think I will be towning Neals enclosed trailer and it is perfect for cots and has a cab over and mattress, no cable tv or ac

More to come

It looks like we have 4 maybe 5 drivers. I want everyone to come and help pit or at least come and cheer. This should be a ton of fun. Hopefully we will not need too much wrenching during the race. Maybe change brake pads on Saturday night. We will need someone to man the grill. Everyone is welcome. I think a pit pass is $75.00 for the weekend.

JP we will pay for your RV spot for the weekend if you come. They have hookups.

how's the driver situation going? i still have my helmet, firesuit, gloves... it's been a while since i've been in a car though. haven't checked into it too much, but 75 is awfully steep for pit help. they should really adjust that, though it is their deal.

It looks like we got everything under control. I will miss Saturday due to an unplanned family event that cannot be changed but I will be down there Saturday night. I will be driving on Sunday if there is a car left to drive.

The Lemons race was an absolute hoot. :hysterical: I recommend it to everyone. No human should have that much fun in a 2000# battering ram. Our car held up very well considering only stock tires and brakes. We finished 38th out of 97. Of course all the mishaps happened on my driving time. I had a blow out on left front tire and had to limp back to the pits. I lost all brakes with about 40 minutes left in the race on Sunday and drove it to the checkered flag. :banghead: Having no brakes at all is very nerve racking. I will post some pics in the next few days. I am sure there is youtube video to watch.
