ron, glad you asked. the first thing you need to know is that we all have had noob questions ourselves and we are always happy to answer any type of question .
a 20-30 ft. recovery strap is a good thing to carry.
some where to attach your strap to the vehicle. a hi-lift jack is a good thing to have. the longer ones are for taller vehicles. so either hi-lift size will work . of course in the future a good bumper and winch would come in handy. gloves, flashlight, matches or lighter , blanket and water are good things to carry. and walking around on rocks can be dangerous. i like wearing boots with good ankle support.

I would bring some ratchet straps(small and car size),bunger cord or 2,duct tape, fluids for everything on your truck(oil,tranny,dif,etc)20' tow strap about 2-4" wide, chain even works-just heavy. As for a jack, just bring a stock jack or what ever you will need...some else will have the high-lifts. even a come-a-long could help maybe. Fuses for your rig, flash lights, basic tool bag, fire exstinguisher,1st aid kit.and any spares parts you think are weal links...u-joint,drive shafts, etc. Those are some things,Chuck

it was suggested we run on channel 4...this is fine with me, however if others are using it-we'll try another channel.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm getting a 33 inch spare Saturday. I'll pick up a couple of straps, extra fluids, water jugs, come along, etc this weekend too. Most of the stuff you mentioned I already have. The rest I'll pick up this weekend except for stuff like a hi lift jack (for now I'll rely on my buds but I will have one).

CB I have, just gotta get it installed.

What tire pressures would you run in 33's for the trail? Also, I know on board air is everybody's dream but my AC is probably gonna stay the way it is, on this truck at least. Anybody know of a real good 12 volt compressor and where to get it?

Hitch points......what is a good way of attaching something like this to a stock truck? Should I worry about that on this truck or just figure on crawling in the mud to hook up a tow strap and forget about it?

Again guys, thanks for all the help.

do you have a hitch on the rear ? if so , you can slide the receiver in and instead of putting a ball in it , you can go to any farm equipment store and buy a d-ring or shackle or clevis . thats the 3 different names ive heard them called. and you can put it in place of the ball. it works great for hooking up a strap on the rear.

No hitch on the rear but I have a class III hitch on my 85 F150 4x4 that I plan to swap to the Bronco. For the time being I can take the ball off the bumper on the Bronco and put a clevis on there. Great advice Mike, thanks!

*edit* Re-read what you said, I don't think you mean to put the clevis on the bumper do you? I'll get busy and swap the hitch over, was gonna do that anyway.
