i am thinking about getting a longer drive shaft or extending the one i have.
my question is whats cheaper? having somebody lengthen mine or buy a new one from james duff.

Cheaper to get yours lengthened. You should be able to get it done local for +/- $50 and it will be a heavier tube than stock.

Is there a Fleet Pride local? I'm pretty sure that the ones in Raleigh do that work...

fleet pride does it. they do all my drive shaft work. $50 to shorten and around double to lengthen.
