What is the best way to remove the tapered piece from the end of this 9"

You need a slide hammer set with a bearing puller attachment.

You can rent that tool set from any adanced, auto zone, oreilley's, etc. for free.

i have a snap-on set if you wanna use...just come and get it lol

As in the earlier post, you can rent a slide hammer from most any auto parts store. The last time I needed one I got it from AutoZone. They charged me a $75 deposit which they refunded when I returned the tool....
