Yes i work for the DOD but no it is military desert sand. It is actualy HS duckboat paint from BassPro cheapest place I could find around here other than at work but my job aint worth some paint.
As for the camo it took about a 2 hours that included finnish painting the interior.
the bass is desert tan then fogged lightly with flat black, then OD green, mud brown, then topped of with desert tan again. Went to the local art store and $8.00 on wall boarder stencils ( IVY, Three diffrent stencils of leaves . Think it turned out OK!
