Been a bit since I posted an update. I picked up 2 qts of POR15 last weekend. I finished stripping down the chassis of every piece that is bolted on. Today I dropped off the chassis off at Carolina Refinishing to be blasted. The fella told me it should be ready Friday afternoon. If all goes well I hope to get a coat or two of paint on it this weekend.

I also ran into a problem with my oil pan that I bought for the engine. Seems it is off of an '80 or newer 400 from either a van or 4x4. Which means that my pick up I salvaged out of my old 351M is not long enough to let the pan sit right. I had to order a new pick up and it should be at the parts store today.

Brought home my chassis from the blaster today. I covered it with a tarp and had to dodge rain showers on the way home. I made it without getting wet and now its safe and sound inside. I have one cab mount that I need to patch up before I start painting.

I resolved the oil pan dilemma with a new pick up. But now for more illusive 351M/400 trivia. I like to align the timing marks with TDC before I install the heads. So I tried to check the balancer with the timing marks before I assembled the front cover and pan. I misplaced the pointer from the 400 so I cleaned up the one from the 351. This one mounts to the pass side at 11 o'clock. The 400 marks are from a truck with factory air and are on the drivers side at 1 o'clock. The rubber in the 351 balancer doesn't look very good and has started squeezing out. I've not given up on finding the misplaced pointer yet. And after doing a bit of research, have found that the "M" series share the same 28 oz balance balancer and flywheel as early 302s and 351Ws. I think I have a spare one of those somewhere also. Just need to find it...

Here is an update from yesterday. Threatening weather caused me to move inside and then it did not rain. Sure wish I had a big shop like Bryan! I did get my patch welded in and a good coat of POR15. Took a whole quart to do this monster of a chassis.

Next on the agenda is to start cleaning the axles and springs so I can reassemble and have it rolling again. I have to pick up new bushings, brake lines, and fuel lines. Finish putting the engine together, clean and paint the tranny and transfer case. I'm going to mock up the radiator support and try to run in the engine before I start on the cab. That way if I run into any troubles I won't have to work around the body work.

Started cleaning up my rear axle. I picked up a set of brackets to convert the rear to disc brakes, but the guy sent me the wrong ones. He's good fella and has sent me the correct ones with a box to ship back the incorrect ones at no cost to me. The conversion uses 3/4 ton Chevy front rotors and Cadillac rear calipers with parking brakes. I'll post up some pics when I get a little further along.

Also I received my headers today. They are Dynomax 1 3/4 with 3 " collectors ceramic coated. I really liked the Hedmans with the ball collectors. But I Ebayed these for half the cost of the Dynomax's and about a third the cost of the Hedman's from Summit.

wow, I dont know where I have been...few new post and pics :o This thing is gonna look awesome Aaron! So are you looking at putting a flat bed on this F250 or a differant one? I saw your post on NC4x4.

I'm still debating/shopping of one for this truck. I really like the looks of the aluminum beds, but not the prices. Though if I find a nice stock bed I'm not against going that route.
