That storage locker Bronco

So I'm far from mechanically minded, but luckily a good friend from church is a mechanic by trade. I will show a lot of ignorance on here, but I've been Bronco crazy since I bought my first one at 17. It was the first one I ever saw- a 1977 with automatic. My first "car"- (it's the photo I use on classicbroncos.com and the inspiration for my handle being "BROwN COw" on classic).
This current "storage locker Bronco" is my 3rd one. My second, I still have, but it's been disassembled for going on 5 years now. It's a 66 Roadster I bought off EBay out of KY. (Thus my handle on here.)

Now this one. It was the only item in a storage locker that was forfeited and auctioned in Lexington, SC. It's a 1970 model 302 with a hurst floor shifter. It has headers, and multiple Eddlebrock parts, a suspension lift, and 12 year old 32/11.50/15 tires with nearly all their tread on 15x10 chrome wagon wheel rims. The body has some terrible cancer rust, but the frame was coated with something like rhino lining and is in surprisingly good shape compared to some of the body problems.
I showed up on the auction day thinking there would be a slim chance I would end up with this rig, and was pleasantly surprised to win it. Another stroke of luck, the previous owner stored it with no gas in the tank. I bought a new battery, changed the oil, put a gallon of ethanol-free marine grade gas in it and it fired right up and sounds good!

The floor shifter needed tightening, but ended up being no problem. I bought a roll cage out of North Carolina for what I thought was a heck of a good deal. The very first mod after the cage will be Chevy disc brakes. I have the hubs, rotors, and caliper backing plates/brackets so far. I guess I'll need new spindles, and of course calipers, etc. I'd love to add Hydroboost power as well, but am on an extremely tight budget and I'm a cheapskate by nature. I'll post up a bunch of pictures in a second post on here. My goal is to have this thing titled, safe, and reliable enough to drive it to Super Celebration in April.

Looks to me like it has stock rear leafs. Measure how high the lift blocks are between the spring and the perch on the rear axle. That should tell you. All that stuff is way old school. The ride quality would be much better with a new lift kit found from the major Bronco vendors.

Dude, this is the ultimate budget Bronco! My salary covers two kids and my homemaker wife who can't relate to my Bronco addiction. I'm nickel and diming ole' rusty just to a safe driving ability. My "dream big" expense would be to get an auto trans. The old school "ruff as a cob" suspension upgrade is way down the priority list. Thanks for the suggestion though, Bart. I welcome anyone's input.
