im so far on the fence...its driving me crazy

the fence im walking is selling my bronco. i know...stupid right??

but heres the deal...all i can think about is beginning to build my slammed bronco, turbo'd LS 450 horses of wheelie. the damn problem is the same as its always been....no money! for what its worth...i dont have the same feelings like i had for my fat bottom girl. i hate having to dial things back, because i have to drive it everywhere and wheel it softly or risk breaking. i dont want to put anymore money in the 4x4...id rather start this other project. there are so many good parts on the 4x4, selling it might give me what i need to completing the dropped bronco. if i keep it, the very best i could do is maybe in 6 months...afford the mustang II front suspension and maybe the rear 4 link kit...but that would be it. just a frame with suspension, and a motor...no trans, rear axle, body, wheels and tires...nothing else.

im just gonna list some things to maybe help put things in a better light

my bronco- the goods
motor-92 302 HO, trick flow pistons,cam,alum heads, stainless shorty headers, alum valve covers, gt40 intake, 65mm throttle body,explorer serp(easy 300 horse or better at crank!)
trans- NV3550 5 sp conversion, stock d20 with stainless twin sticks
axles-d44 with 4.56, eletrac locker(never really worked but it has a trutrac default), chromo shafts w/760 full clip joints, stock disc,hellwig sway bar and disconnect, BC TRO steering, Cage 3.5" coils, JD tubular arms,rancho adj 9000s shocks, tom woods drive shaft
9"-4.56, rebuilt TIGHT traclok, 28 spl, drum , JD diff skid plate, stock rear drive shaft.
bumpers- warn front bumper with 8k winch, hella off road light, rear protofab custom plate style bumper with cooler/gas can, and tire carrier,receiver hitch

the rest...body is pretty decent, fiberglass cowl hood with autometer fuel pressure gauge, inside rhino lined, corbeau street seats, jeep rear seat, tuffy center console, protofab full family cage, idditt tilt steering column with cruise control, dakota digital gauge, stereo/amp/speakers,started the southern rod's AC system( condenser,ac lines, receiver/dryer is all thats left), glove box door slide mod, LED interior lighting front/rear, DIY cheap LED rock lights, OBA with twin air tanks and skid plate, WH war flares, 33" firestone MT's matching spare, factory doors converted to soft upper windows, still have fiberglass inserts and soft half doors. brand new BC super soft top

the bad...its PRIMERED LOL. both rockers got crunched, plan to build 2x6 sliders, hope to have custom upper rear quarter guards.



the street bronco...
items i have...custom mustang II corssmember, frame, one super sweet 5.7 complete LS motor

items i need-
4l60e trans,( explorer rear 8.8 w/ disc,4.10,posi), mustang II upper/lower tubular arms, coilovers, rack and pinion, rear 4 bar kit with coilovers, wheels and tires (skinny/ fats, maybe drag radials), eb tub-uncut, fiberglass halfcab,wiring harness, tilt column




so there it is...let me have it!!!! what now??????
77 built 306,Trickflow Cam/Alum Heads/dome pistons/10:1comp,nv3550,duff long arms,3.5" lift,family cage,protofab rear bumper,twin sticked, and 35KM2'sG.D.I.

Well like I said before WTF!!!
I hope you think long and hard about it I think you would have regrets down the road most
Keep what you have have fun with it gather parts for your slam bronco many good projects will take years to complete so when you have money put toward the slam bronco.
Don't give into the I want it now demon!!!!

I guess the bottom line is:

How much would you sell it for and what would a realistic price be to build the street rod?

I'm not biased, both are cool but I expect the rod to cost as much as the 77 sale price. You'd be out of a Bronco during the lengthy build process as well.

Not only that but really the only places to wheel nearby don't require a built rig. I know you want more out of the 77, but lockers can be done whenever. In fact I just picked up a 31 spline Detroit used. Parts are usually out there. If you sold the 77, you couldn't wheel at all for the Nov URE run. I won't let you cancel that event! Sure you could still do the meet and greet, but no wheeling after.

As a sideline spectator, I think it'd be the wrong move unless you are totally done off roading. I don't think you are, but that is me. You don't have to be like Ch__ie. Smile Just because an obstacle is there, it doesn't mean you have to do it. At least that is how I look at it.

My vote is to put some sliders on it and Maaco the paint. It'd look like a whole new animal. Do lockers down the road if you really want. Just have something practical that you can use for anything.

Here is another angle.....I'm not supporting this but just a thought. Figure about what it would cost you to get back to what you have now with your rig, don't forget to factor in wrenching time. Multiply that by 1 and a half times and put it up for sale at that price or even a higher pie in the sky price and see if it goes. Or figure a budget for the total slammed bronco build and multiply that times 1 and a half and use that value. Solid rigs are not getting any cheaper you know!! I'd hate to see blazinchuck flame out with no bronco. My vote is for keeping what ya got and nickel and dime the slammed rod together.

I'm kinda with everyone else. I regret getting rid of my eb to build something new.

I know in the long run it might cost a little more but what if you built the rod with different suspension and parts to keep the cost down, then upgrade later?

Like, frenched leafs in the rear & a stock type solid axle front.
could also keep the engine stock put a good used 700r/th350/4l60 in it.

That could potentially save some coin, get it going and then you could build it up as you choose and can afford

1st hit it on the head. You want the slammed EB. you want it bad. And, it's an awesome project that i for one can't wait to see you complete. HOWEVER, you WILL regret selling the 77. guaranteed. I personnally hold your 77 as the benchmark by which i am building my bronco. that's not something you sell just to fund another project. Take your time, wait patiently and build the EB-rod as you can. perserverance will make sure it gets done, patience will gurantee the quality, and your 77 will keep you actively participating in club events.

i appreciate yalls input guys...been doing a lot of thinking! i think i will hold back the idea of putting up the 77 to make way for the eb-rod. no way i could replace all the things in the 77. ill stick with my original plan to purchase the suspension parts in the next few months...and try to build a rolling chassis.
