Trail report.
#1
Didn't know of anyone on the group that had been to Durhamtown Plantation west of Augusta, Ga. Went last Saturday and met Perry Brady and Marty Copeland there. They both had the boys with them as did I. Good to see old friends again. We got an early report from Marty. He had done some riding around on Fri. Followed him out and did some trail riding. Nothing exciting. Ended up at a point with some short run hill climbs over some rocks. Not much to write home about. Went from there to the highlight of the day. A trail called Slippery Nipple. Sounds good so far. Turns out to be a watercourse run wide enough for Marty's full size with five or six rock ledges on the way. Good run to the top where a tree has fallen across the top of the chute just before the last ledge. Everyone cleared and moved on from there to Rocky Ridge. A natural rock pile that is a few hundred yards long with a multitude of routes to the top. These ranged from minivan access to boulder jumping. Kyle took his turn and did well going up. From there more trail riding looking for rocks and more challenges. None to be found. Muddy two track and woodsy trails. We rode trail One and most of trail Five. Had a good time seeing old friends but this won't be a stop on the Ultimate Challenge unless we all carry dirt bikes, too. Still haven't gotten any pictures for Perry's son, the trip photographer.

Thanks for the report Tim. We certainly appreciate you taking the time to help us cross this Hell Week candidate location off the list. Looking forward to the pics and your report from Tellico2 in a couple months!

That was going to be my question (Durhamtown Tellico). From what I've read, it sounds very promising. They are running a summer special for fees and such, if anyone wants to plan a trip..

Durhamtown Tellico is correct. I understand Trail 4 from the old OHV area continues into the new property. The website says 4000 acres. Very promising. Planning on Sept trip. Second or third weekend. The entire area is still primitive from what the website says. Murphy isn't too far away and the Best Western is where we used to stay on trips there. Looking forward to that and the trip to Uwharrie in Nov. Full wheeling year for us. This area is too far for us to make it a day trip. I was thinking Fri-Sun kind of thing. Two overnights would make a nice trip.

Looks like I just lost my co-driver for the forseeable future. Kyle just got accepted to the University of North Georgia. School starts Aug 1st.

C'mon. A weekend off won't kill him. I'd be interested to join you. Will have to check 'our' calendar to make sure I'm not already committed to something that I don't yet know about.

Bet clay might come out as well.
