Tubing Benders
#1
Do any of you guys have any good experience and knowledge on tube benders? I was thinking about buying this one.

My son wants to make a roof rack for his jeep and I wouldn't mind learning how to make some simple bumpers and stuff. Just don't want to buy something that may turn out to be not what I really need or want because of my ignorance.

Build the got trikes bender. Its awesome.

The bender u suggested is not for structural bending. It will crimp the tube and weaken it. Got trikes is a rotary draw and works great.

JD2 or Pro Tools are commonly used benders. They don't cost much but the dies get expensive in a hurry.

SC74 does some tube bending as well. Maybe he will chime in. I've seen Nicks and Charles benders, both are nice!

Well I was going to buy the JD2 but didn't want to spend the $$$ right now. My son and I had to make a roof rack for his jeep for his senior project so I just went out and bought the HF bender. I ended up machining/fabbing some parts to make it work pretty dang good on 1" tubing at least. I'll check out the got trikes bender too for future projects.

That roof rack turned out looking good and stout. Approximately how much does it weigh?
