More work on the cage tonight.... still have to put the other half of the "x" in and the 2 support bars on each side that will re-inforce the coilover mount. mokin:

From the top view you can see the rise in the drivers side rear bar that is gonna bug the hell out of me till it is cut back out and dropped.

looks very good robert. one question though on the rear coilovers where they mount at the bottom. is there plenty of room so they cant bind up when the rear is fully flexed ? just letting you know that mine did not and i broke 3 shocks like that. im sure you got it right but i couldnt really tell in the pic. i cant wait to see it in person. its definately high on my list of favorite bronco's.

that's a good question. We did some grinding to the lower arm to make more room for the bottom mount to fit and hopefully not rub when the suspension cycles. I will pay close attention to this when I cycle the suspension before taking it on it's first trip. Thank you for the heads up or I probably would not have double checked this and those shocks are not cheap! Don't they make some sort of cone mount adapter?

im not sure on the adapter. i just know the weight of the rig will easily snap the eye out of that shock if it gets in a hard bind. just looking out for ya cause mine was a headache. i looked at other buggies to get my new mounting ideas. and i dont think the bolt hole can run from driv-pass side. im pretty sure the eye of the shock also has to be turned some to accomodate when the susp. rises/lowers. kind of at an angle. like this // on the driv side. like this \\ on the pass side.

Since the lower link is angled from the frame inward to the axle my mounts are somewhat like you recommend, but I don't know if enough. Where did you have your lower mounts - on the link or on the axle? IronBender made the arms specifically for coilovers, but then again I had to do some grinding to make them fit. You've got me thinking now cratchhe:

i wouldnt worry to much about it since they were made for that. i'd just have some one look at it while you slowly flex it out. mine were mounted on top of the axle out near the original leaf spring mount. i was just curious about yours cause ive never seen then mounted on the arm like that . but i do think yours is awesome and would work like that. i just wanted you to be aware of the problem i had just incase you were gonna have the same problem. no one told me so i learned expensively.

Thanks for looking out for me. We'll double and triple check them before we hit the trail. I have not seen many others mounted on the lower link, but have seen a few. I know that the bronco on RRR has a very similar set up. I would rather learn from your expensive mistakes :beer:
