Nice idea to get people over here noticed via wife's account a lot of responses in the last hour just hope that translates to them coming here and talking.

Hopefully it will. First step is generate a good membership base on FB. Then we can send some publicity blasts down the pipe.

Well tell them the free shirts are for member ship here not necessarily face book as it doesn't generate anything for the club.

If free shirts generate a larger audience for the greater good, so be it. We will have more free shirts for the big website push down the road. Good idea though.

Good idea for only joining FB to get a free shirt but unless they join the club here we are just using funds to fix the site to get people that may or may not show up here, they currently have no motivation to join and can see everything on the site without joining, the goal is traffic here not FB.
This seems like the same issue Chuck had when he gave away a membership to someone only to see them not come back. FB is a great promotional idea but ultimately making it a requirement for them to join here would be no different then them buying a raffle ticket.

What's done is done. They posted a date of giveaway already, Puck. Many, many more bronco lovin' eyeballs are going to read about the giveaway on FB than would here. It's vastly more overall exposure. Besides, those of us reading this should be buying a shirt in the first place...

I feel you may be missing our intent. Let me try again.

Our site is in dire need of members who can help revitalize activity and infuse $$$ into our empty account. This site has limited means of advertising other than the few events we hold each year. With that in mind, our only FREE means of advertising to the masses is via FB.

Our plan is to generate a large following on FB. This will create an audience which we can then steer to the site once we show them what our group is all about. There will be a percentage of people who join just for the free shirts; I get that. Our hope is those folks will lead others to us who are able to become contributors to our site.

You statement they "can see everything on the site without joining" is inaccurate. We will front load the FB page with videos and pics and some social jabber initially but that will eventually be generated from posts from our site via FB uplinlks once we integrate the software. Further, think of it this way, right now, we have absolutely NOTHING to lose and EVERYTHING to gain by making this play. We are not selling the farm to pay for the couple of shirts for the giveaway. We are talking about a couple of bucks.

The short term benefits will be nil but the long term results will be well worth while.

I like it. Not a FB member, so I can't see what is happening. I'm sure it will add traffic to the club

One thought I have is why not do a regular M&G this year with a raffle, 50/50, and food? I'm happy to cook and have all proceeds go to the club like a few years back. I would think this would easily net the club $500. Just sayin.
