Full circle clips are on the assembled axle. I destroyed one clip and will have to find one to replace it before I assemble the left side axle. I noticed on the grenaded joint that the weld had pulled the metal out of the cap. Weld did not break but the caps must be cast iron. That is what the fracture looked like. What process are you guys using when you weld the caps. MIG or stick and if stick what rod. I have heard Chromoly has some special welding requirements also. I will try to find some reading on the subject but any good input on the subject is welcome.

In a failure situation like you had, the caps would have been destroyed no matter what. We don't need a perfect weld. The weld is not preventing the cap from pushing out as much as it is preventing it from spinning and walking out as a result.
With full circle clips and a tiny tack you are golden. Just mig it. Sent from my GS3 on Cyanogenmod with the older / better version of Tapatalk!

To weld chromoly the right way, it needs to be TIG welded.
I have not tacked my caps as it would make servicing about impossible. You could use anything to tack weld it.

The left front axle is assembled. These new axles and Spicer 760 joints do not go together without some force.
