my full width axle build 5/23/07->10/28/07
alright, it has begun! the cage , seat belts are out. gonna try to remove the gas tank and seats and tail gate.

yeah, but let me say...do it all with the sawzall. the plasma leaves such a crappy mess. I did the driver side with the plasma, and the pass side with sawzall. I can finish the pass side way easier because its cleaner.:banghead:

no way to reuse the tail gate! you would have to remove the inner wall where the tail gate pivots and make that 90 degrees to the floor. way too much work for a working tail gate. I might even get the rear 90% done by tomorrow,Chuck

Ahhh... I see what you mean. We ran into a similar problem on dobbing the front of mine where the grill mated to the angled fenders. We just did some filling with some angled sheet-metal, but it's nothing structural as a tailgate hinge would be and would take some extra time and thought.

If you were really wanting the tailgate, it might be easier to come up with a new hinge set-up than modify the existing. You can still close the rear off with some tube work and call it good :beer:

almost got the rear done. I'm gonna run the wheel tubes just like they came from the factory. A total of 14" was removed. once this back end is done, I will start the front before any of the 1 ton stuff goes in.
