bye bye tattoo
#1
well, I just went to the doctor today...might end up having one of my tats removed:banghead: It started back in Nov., I was having back pain. So I went in for a MRI found some problems with the back. Then went for another MRI about 1.5 weeks ago for my right hand/arm going numb(been numb since the day after the meet/greet.

Had a small spot(like rash) show up on the red part of my tat days before the meet/greet...no big deal right?

now the rash covers all of the red parts of my tattoo:rubeyes:

Apparently, the MRI has changed the structure/content of the red pigment/ink into something the body now recognizes as a foreign object-and is attacking it. He put me on medicine and hopes to not have to get the tat removed!!!!!:banghead: He's not sure if he can save it..oh yeah-I got this 10 years ago. GO FIGURE!

Is this the first MRI you have had since you got the Tatts?

Once this is all done I would certainly consider a few thoughts.

1.) Was the tatt ink defective? If so, you may be able to seek reimbursement from the artist for the removal of the tatts if such a procedure turns out to be necessary. I will tell you why in a second.

2.) The tech that administered your MRI certainly asked you if you had any funky ink that would get blitzed by their MRI, right? If not, they may need to reimburse you for the removal procedure if it turns out to be necessary. This is not their first rodeo and this is not a unique situation.

3.) Or just tell me to shut the heck up and quit rambling on about getting legal with nice people. Smile

Here is the deal, tatts were not regulated until about 20 years ago. Some metals were used in tatt ink until the regulation began but even by that point it was still rare. My concern is whether or not the regulation of tatts prohibits the use of such inks and, if so, your artist was wrong to use that ink. Regardless, your MRI tech should have informed you of the risks.

Just my 2 cents
