Chuck, Not sure about the black text. It seems to look like all the other text though.
Anyway, I am not getting in and out frequently. We are talking about one or two trips a day with no stops in between. This is my wife's car so no switches because she will not remember to use them.
Picture this, I get in and turn to ACC to let the fuel pump prime etc for a second. The radar detector starts its annoying bit. A second later I start the car and it goes to BIT again because of the momentary power loss of turning to START. It is annoying to hear it twice that’s all. No extra stops or getting in and out of the car.
I just want to find a way to prevent the second bit.

are you taking the time to use the color code for black? I'm using blak-ice theme, and even when I use the default...its always looked just what everyone is typing. I looked at the code and it looks like every sentence has is own black code...not the whole paragraph.

Oh. That is because I usually use Microsoft Word to spell check my posts. When the text is pasted into the thread those tags are transferred from word in the background. So the color is no longer automatic but rather black. I will see if I can fix that since I now see it is difficult to see with the grey screens.

Chuzie,
Have you found a way to solve the problem? I'm sure you have thought about this one... but you might be able to "latch" a small relay when power to the starter motor relay circuit is provided. That way it will not power up unless the engine is in run mode... of course then the power to the "latching" relay coil will need to be dropped when the inginiton switch is turned to off.. Though, I'm sure it is not as easy as I have written...

Didn't think about that; will have to go to the electrical geek forum down the road and figue it all out. I will let you all know what they say.

Chuzie,
Here's another thought.... an "SCR" might do the trick.. they are cheap....many years ago I found them at Radio Shack... The nice feature about an SCR is that when it is "latched" be appling power to the "gate" they will stay latched until the power source is broken... This would solve your problem.. but now the solution for removing power to the SCR needs to be figured out.
