tires: 42"
gears 5.38
trans: c4
t case : j shift dana 20
i wheeled mine the past two days at uwharrie. my gearing combo doesnt seem low enough. its fine until you get on some bigger rock faces. then it acts like it needs more low . the only thing i changed was 4.88 to 5.38
and 39.5 tires to 42" tires. before it was near perfect.

Wow... I love my 4.88s on 35s, so I would've thought 5+ would've been great on 42s... Wait, that's a C6 BB though. Prolly a little different, eh?. I don't even belong in this category.

my 460/c6 liked 44's and 4.88's could have went lower and it would of been fine either way.

NOW
Rat 3speed= 3.41
T-shift D20=2.46
Gears=3.50
Tires=34/10.5/15LTB's
Crawl ratio=29.4 to 1 (way to fast)
Couple weeks
NP435= 6.69
T-shift D20=2.46
Gears=3.50
Tires=34/10.5/15LTB's
Crawl ratio=57.6 to 1 (after new tranny and hopefully before RITS)
Couple months+
NP435= 6.69
T-shift D20=2.46
Gears=4.56 (after swap with Chuck sometime this year)
Tires=34/10.5/15LTB's
Crawl ratio=75 to 1 (should be great for awhile)
Broncomania's Crawl ratio=31 to 1 (c4=2.46(1st gear)D20 J-shift=2.34 and 5.38 gears)
So the equation goes like this 2.46x2.34x5.38=30.96
Now I don't know about tire size and how that effects it but I think the c4 is whats killing your crawl ratio broncomania...I really don't know but this is what I have found looking around.
Waiting to build or BUY another legend! :thefinger:

I have a C4, Dana 20 J-shift, and 4.10's. For what I use the truck for I like it, but if I did more off-road I would like at least a 4.30 gear.
With my 39.5's I'm going to go either 4.88 or 5.38 - have not decided. It really depends on what I decide to do for a transfer case.
