this got me today! I was taking the bronco out again around the hood. It felt like the steering wasn't just right. So I stop back @ the house to find some of the set screws on the steering shaft to box was loose. While my little girl was steering it right/left..I notice the box was moving some near the top...found the top bolt loose/stripped(replaced it) and as if that weren't enough, thought I might check the big nut on the box for the pitman arm...LOOSE! Wow, what a difference all that made. Did I mention...I'm driving this to work tomorrow??? Glad this got checked! ALWAYS CHECK YOUR STUFF!

Loc-tite is a must but difficult to get a good application with a fluid soaked apparatus.
Also, a beefed up backing plate is a good idea to prevent fatiguing the frame from the constant strain of the box. FWIW- I once had a rag joint snap while on the highway doing about 60! God was watching over me that day.
