School bus tow rig
#31
Got the bus out yesterday and it is so cool. Neal & I cranked it and drove it around the yard. The motor is a 7.8 litre (473 cu. in.) diesel. It runs great and everything works on it. The 2 speed rear end is nice and it has air brakes at all the corners. :rebel:

Air brakes are bad ass, but won't that make you get another endorsement on your license in NC, if you don't already have it?

Can't wait to see this hauler... Let me know if you want a hand with it all, carl.

I think we can reclass the bus as an RV once we put a bathroom in it. Confusedcratchhe:

check with the dmv...gdi built one from an old bus. they required it have a sink, fridge, and a microwave(go figure). once they installed those items...it was (in their eyes) a rv, and then titled, registered, and insured as such. for some reason...it had a cummins, allison tranny, air brakes, and other goodies...but sucked at towing. I think it had too much over hang from behind the rear wheels though.
77 built 306,Trickflow Cam/Alum Heads/dome pistons/10:1comp,nv3550,duff long arms,3.5" lift,family cage,protofab rear bumper,twin sticked, and 35KM2'sG.D.I.

Byrne racing had one when I helped them with there race car. They said they didnt like to tow with it since the axle was so far forward. Said it tracked funny when turning. Works great with the car on the back, just makes the house part smaller.
Check out JCWhitney for the toilet, pump, and lighting. They have had cheaper prices than the rv stores when I have had to replace things on my rv.
