the rear main seal is leaking. but to fix it the tractor has to be split into two pcs. i have plenty of room but have never done it before. i called a tractor place today and i didnt like what they told me. the price went from 500 to 4000 really quick...they said that if rear main seal was leaking then it prob need complete overhaul but it runs great.

I have a very good friend who has been selling and repairing tractor for 30 years. he runs the local john deere kubota place now but knows an awful lot. If David cant answer you Pm me and Ill give you his number. they are pretty simple to take apart.

David said to take a floor jack to the front half of the tractor and a bottle jack to the back halp and split it open ......he said it should just be needing a replacement seal and no overhaul.....he said you may have to unhook a hydraulic line or two (he wasn't sure cause he doesn't mess much with the fords)......

we broke our deutz in 1/2 to replace something with the clutch and it wasn't too bad - seems ominous at first when you start to break it in 1/2 but like eric said as well it shouldn't be too bad. I'll PM you david's cell if you have any questions......tractors are a lot easier to work on than trucks - everything is pretty visible by standing up!
