Well the septic contractors showed up this morning, trying to beat the next snow/rain arriving tomorrow. He reworked my leach field adding 192ft chambered system. He also drained the tank and had a minor repair to the filter housing. The inspector from the county could have been a real D!@%, but thankfully wasn't. The county ordinance requires 100% rework area for the drain field. I just used my rework area and terminated part of the original system.
So since I'm lucky enough to live on a great big patch of bull talor clay(same sticky stuff as in Uwharrie) and my original system was beginning to fail, the inspector approved all the work. He did question the size of my building and if I would shrink it to a standard 24x24, only 20ft of the original system would have to be terminated. I politely pointed to my truck, the fact of it being 22ft long, and I would like to be able to pull it in out of the weather.
